Taqueria San Luis

Today is President’s Day.  That means that a portion of America (that’s me) is sleeping in, being lazy, and perhaps spending time with family.  Adrien’s unfortunately working on this fine day in Nashville, so I took it upon myself to be adventurous and explore a bit.  I decided to have lunch with Brian and try out Taqueria San Luis.  What?  Where?  If you’ve ever driven down Harding just before I-24 you’ve probably noticed some big smokers placed just a few feet off the road.  Rain or shine, those guys are billowing smoke.  That’s the spot.

Little did I know that it’s a hidden gem and reviewers of this little joint beg that it not become some highly publicized restaurant.  Probably for good reason.  It’s tiny.  You order through a sliding window on the side of the building and they hand it out to you through said window.  No tables, no chairs, but honestly, perfect.

Three tacos for 4 bucks.  I ordered the Carne Asada, Al Pastor and Carnitas.  Little corn tortillas piled with your meat of choice, onions, cilantro, limes and a few grilled onions in the middle of the mess.  Topped with red or green salsa and you are good to go.  You just eat right there in your car or take it to go.
