CSA Delivery #2!

November 4, 2010

Well today was our first full delivery – and man does it look promising!

This week includes:

Scallions
Brocolli
Carrots
Watermelon Turnips
Sweet Potatos
Brussels Sprout Leaves
Parsley
Kale
Red Grand-rapids and Green Grand-rapids Lettuce

Look at these turnips!

We didn’t waste any time diving right in.

Tonights dinner included a salad made with the Red Grand-rapids lettuce, toasted almonds, cranberries and some Goat Feta by this great local cheese maker – Noble Springs Dairy – right here in Franklin TN.

In addition to the salad we roasted a whole mess of the rest of our veggies – sweet potatoes, carrots, turnips and onion – all tossed in some olive oil, garlic, shallots. Incredibly delicious and it was amazing how much better these veggies all tasted than the stuff you can find at the grocery store, which has sat around for weeks and traveled far too many miles to get there. Fantastic.

Now to just figure out what to do with these Brussels Sprout Leaves!
